Acrylic Painting

Surfaces in Colored Pencil
Janet Balboa MON 10:00-11:30am $98 for 6 weeks; $65 for 4 weeks Crystal Lake studio This will be a 6-week workshop focused on how colored pencil can describe different kinds of surfaces — from soft petals to textured bark to flowing water. Rather than concentrating on drawing from scratch, we’ll be working from pre-drawn simple outlines to so the emphasis stays on colored pencil layering and blending technique — not on worrying about whether your drawing is “good enough.” Each week, we’ll explore a different surface and the colored pencil skills that bring it to life, including: • pressure control • layering • edge softness and sharpness • directional stroke movement Step by step class to expand your art skills. Students bring their own projects and work independently in a focused, supportive environment. This is not a step-by-step instructional class, but a space for artists who enjoy working at their own pace and appreciate professional input on materials, process, or composition. Get beginning or intermediate instruction in Procreate with Apple Pencil, or using Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign on your device. Studio iPads available for use, or bring your own. Beginning students will get step-by-step instruction on techniques, then choose their own project to complete. Woodstock studio Learn to create a stained glass panel to beautify your home, or to give as a gift. For beginning students, instructor will provide a choice of patterns in styles such as Art Deco, Mission, and Prairie. Advanced students have the option to design their own pattern. Skills learned include composition, cutting, and soldering. Tools & instruction provided, students will purchase glass for their project ($50-$80 additional depending on pattern). This is an adult class; student must be 18 or older to register. Take home complete earrings, bracelets, or necklaces you can keep or give as a gift. Create with simple elegant crystals or chunky unpolished gemstones to fit your style. Step-by-step instruction. You will: • Learn beginning stringing techniques • Use crimp pliers and crimp tubes to attach clasps • Create bracelets, necklaces, and multi-strand designs • Explore simple and wrapped wire loops for earrings No experience needed. Each workshop day includes step-by-step instruction and time to practice techniques, before creating your final design to take home.
